Newport Racing & Gaming Celebrates Opening With $5,000 Donation to Brighton Center

Newport, KY (October 7, 2020) – To support the local community and celebrate the grand opening of Churchill Downs Incorporated’s newest property, a $5,000 donation was made from Newport Racing & Gaming to Brighton Center, a Newport nonprofit dedicated to creating opportunities for individuals and families to reach self-sufficiency through family support services, education, employment and leadership.

On Wednesday, September 30, Newport Racing & Gaming opened its doors for the first time to local dignitaries and industry professionals as well as friends and family for a soft opening. All guests at this VIP event saw the proceeds from gaming, food and beverage that night go toward Newport’s intended donation to Brighton Center. The nonprofit was chosen due to its robust scope of work as well as its prominence in the community.

With the donation totaling $5,000, Newport looks forward to continuing its partnership with Brighton Center and in fact plans to host a food drive on November 9 and 16 to help Brighton families in need during the holidays. As with all Churchill Downs Incorporated properties, supporting the local community is a major priority at Newport Racing & Gaming, and the new enterprise looks forward to further giving back in the Newport area.

Brighton Center wraps a community of support around individuals and families by tackling the issues that prevent people from becoming self-sufficient, removing the barriers they face and creating hope so that goals can be achieved and dreams realized. From its modest beginnings in 1966, it has grown to provide a wide range of programs and services, which include meeting basic needs, adult and early childhood education, workforce development, substance abuse recovery for women, affordable housing, financial education and counseling, youth services and neighborhood based programs.
