Foundation support is directed to organizations that provide sustainable lifestyles to Thoroughbred athletes as the horses transition from a racing career, the care of injured or disabled jockeys, and education, health and cultural opportunities for our backside families. In addition to charitable industry-related initiatives, the Foundation is committed to funding that will enhance and invigorate the quality of life of for the neighborhoods surrounding Churchill Downs Racetrack.

Churchill Downs Incorporated, Churchill Downs Racetrack and all CDI properties follow a long tradition of corporate social responsibility and have been committed charitable partners for decades. The company has had significant impact on the many communities in which it operates, and through its corporate giving, over $2 million in charitable grants and in-kind donations is contributed annually to over 600 organizations. The Churchill Downs Foundation exists separately to supplement and support these charitable efforts by identifying new opportunities and needs within our own industry. Beyond the positive social impact that we hope to have in the world as a company, the Foundation strives to protect and improve the industry that we all love and celebrate as racing fans.

Through one-of-a-kind events like Supper Under the Spires and exciting charitable enterprises such as the 50/50 Raffle, the Churchill Downs Foundation is constantly seeking ways to engage the community. Thanks to the incredible financial support of the Louisville community and beyond, the Foundation has had the opportunity to support individuals and organizations advocating for and doing important work within the industry, like those working in the fields of Thoroughbred aftercare, disabled jockeys and the racetracks' backsides. The Foundation has also been able to affect change in Churchill Downs Racetrack's own backyard, providing support and connection to the neighborhoods surrounding the historic landmark. In total, these groups are often the "unsung heroes" of the Kentucky Derby, and the Foundation is proud to offer its steadfast advocacy and support.
