Corporate Social Responsibility

Churchill Downs Incorporated follows a long tradition of corporate social responsibility and has been a committed charitable partner for decades. It is undeniable that the Kentucky Derby is part of what makes Louisville such a wonderful, vibrant place to live and work. Thus it is critically important to Churchill Downs Incorporated to likewise support the other organizations and initiatives that make this city and Commonwealth of Kentucky the culturally rich destination that it is. And indeed beyond Kentucky, we are committed to giving back within each community that we operate.

CDI prioritizes giving to those entities that help enrich a community’s quality of life and contribute to the overall unique identity of the region. We strongly support nonprofits that are making their community a better place to live, whether that’s a performing arts group or a diversity and inclusion organization.

The Kentucky Oaks has long been an important day, as Churchill Downs collaborates to raise awareness as well as funds for women’s health programs, specifically those targeting breast and ovarian cancer. We use the Kentucky Oaks as the kick-off event to call attention to this very important cause throughout the rest of the year.

Additionally, CDI is committed to supporting connections to the equine industry and ensuring its continued growth and stability. It is indeed an important sector of our economy, and we are proud to play a role in supporting those who ensure the success of the equine industry.

CDI deeply values being a good neighbor, and being a good neighbor means giving back to those who give to you. As the Kentucky Derby is an internationally recognized event, we strive to give back wherever we can, whether it’s right in our own backyard in the neighborhoods surrounding Churchill Downs Racetrack or donating to a nonprofit auction taking place near one of our gaming properties – we simply want to illustrate how important it is to our company to support those doing such good work across the country. CDI has had significant impact on the many communities in which it operates, and through its corporate giving, over $2 million in charitable grants and in-kind donations is contributed annually to over 600 organizations.
