Churchill Downs Racetrack Donates Grand Opening Sports Book Winnings to Louisville Sports Commission

LOUISVILLE, KY., (September 7, 2023) – To commemorate the monumental opening of in-person sports betting in Kentucky, Churchill Downs Racetrack (“CDRT”) donated $10,000 in winnings from the ceremonial first sports bets placed at the historic track to the Louisville Sports Commission. The donation will directly impact the Louisville community by promoting active lifestyles and enhancing economic vitality by attracting, creating, and hosting quality sporting events in the area.

“To celebrate the long-awaited legalization of sports wagering in Kentucky, we thought it was important to not only invite some of the legendary sports stars of the Commonwealth to join us,” said Tonya Abeln, Vice President of Corporate Communications for Churchill Downs Incorporated, “but also to make a contribution to an organization that does so much to uphold the success of sports throughout the state as well as ensures access and athletic opportunities to those in underserved neighborhoods.”
