Everything Guests Need to Know About Derby Week Events at the Track

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Wednesday, April 23, 2023) – Churchill Downs has announced everything guests need to know about each Kentucky Derby Week event. This year, Derby Week consists of seven exciting events: Dawn at the Downs; Opening Night powered by LG&E and KU; 502’sDay, Winsday presented by Resolute Racing; Thurby presented by Old Forester; and, of course, Oaks and Derby. Derby Week race-day tickets are available for purchase at www.kentuckyderby.com/visit/derby-week-events.

General Info For The Week Preceding Oaks and Derby:

Location: Churchill Downs, 700 Central Ave. Louisville, KY 40208

Parking: All Derby Week parking on property is reserved for pass holders only. Kentucky Exposition Center will have free parking with free shuttles regularly running to and from Churchill Downs on Opening Night, 502’sDay, Winsday, and Thurby. Shuttle drop-off and pick-up will be in the Black Lot outside of the Paddock Gate.

Venue & Arrival Info: Churchill Downs is located at 700 Central Ave, Louisville, KY 40208. Your recommended entry gate is the Woodford Reserve Paddock Gate. We encourage guests to arrive early due to traffic and security screening.

Tickets & Entry: All tickets are digital and can be accessed through the Churchill Downs app. Please download your tickets to your phone’s wallet before arriving to avoid delays at the gate due to poor service or long login times.

Dress Code: Churchill Downs has a wide variety of spaces, and dress expectations vary by location.

NEW Style Under the Spires Daily Fashion Contest: Set to debut during Derby Week 2025, Style Under the Spires is a new daily fashion showcase at Churchill Downs, inviting guests to participate in themed style moments for a chance to win exclusive prizes and be featured on the venue’s iconic Big Board.

DAWN AT THE DOWNS

What: Join us for the opportunity to see the Kentucky Derby and Oaks contenders train for the big races while listening to expert commentary. Dawn at the Downs admission is free to the community.

When: April 24-30. 6:45-10 a.m. EDT

7:15-7:30 a.m. – Enjoy an exclusive training window only for Derby (yellow saddle towels) and Oaks (pink saddle towels) contenders.

Dining: Upgrade your Dawn at the Downs experience with a delicious buffet breakfast on Millionaires Row. Dawn at the Downs Dining may be purchased only for April 27-28 and must be purchased in advance. Limited tickets may be available on the day of the event but are not guaranteed. Parking: FREE onsite parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Onsite parking lots will open at 5 a.m.
  • Clubhouse Gates will open at 6:45 a.m.
  • Every vehicle must be removed Churchill Downs by 10:30 a.m. each day

Merchandise: The Kentucky Derby Stores will be open to the community on Sunday, April 27 and Monday, April 28 at the Clubhouse location between 7 a.m and 12 p.m.

NEW IN 2025! WINSDAY: GREAT THRILLS FOR THE GREATER GOOD PRESENTED BY RESOLUTE RACING

What: New for 2025, Winsday debuts as a day to shine the spotlight on Louisville’s nonprofit community. In partnership with the Community Foundation of Louisville, local nonprofit organizations have been invited to fundraise and highlight the work they do to make Louisville a more vibrant place to live, work and play. By purchasing Winsday tickets through a registered nonprofit, guests will directly contribute to these agencies, with a portion of each ticket sale benefiting their incredible work.

  • Second Chance Drawings: Organizations that don’t make it into the “Starting Gate” will still have a shot at financial support with opportunities to win $2,000 for their cause.

Churchill Downs Racetrack announced Wednesday, April 16 that GRAMMY® nominated recording artist Grace Potter will perform the national anthem at the 151st Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve on Saturday, May 3, 2025. Prior to Potter’s rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner”, one of the greatest athletes of all time, Simone Biles, will have the honor of serving as this year’s Riders Up announcer.
