“Turbo” Takes the Title at Wiener Dog Races During Colonial Downs Family Fun Weekend

~ Sixty-four Wiener Dogs took to the track Saturday while beloved Princesses graced the grounds on Sunday for a free weekend of family fun ~

NEW KENT, Va. (August 17, 2026)—During Family Fun Weekend at Colonial Downs, “Turbo” lived up to his name and emerged as the top dog by winning the third annual Colonial Downs Wiener Dog races. Assisted by his human Kaitlyn Hodson, Turbo bested a field of 64 Wiener Dogs who took to the Colonial Downs dirt track between thoroughbred races on Saturday. The weekend wrapped up on Sunday with the track’s first Princess and Tractor Day and a hobby horse race.

“This was an incredible weekend of free family fun for all ages,” said Bella Hodge, Racing Marketing Manager. “Congratulations to our new champion Turbo and the other pups who gave it their all on Saturday! With great racing on the track, family-friendly fun, and free general admission for the rest of the season, there’s still time to make some amazing memories at Virginia’s premier thoroughbred racetrack before the season wraps.”

Live thoroughbred racing at Colonial Downs continues every Thursday through Sunday until the Old Dominion Derby on Labor Day, Monday September 7.

Churchill Downs Incorporated Trivia Event Generates Record-Breaking Support for Big Brothers Big Sisters

Churchill Downs Incorporated team members raised a record-breaking $18,775 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana through the company’s annual Trivia for Kids’ Sake event.

The employee-led fundraising effort surpassed CDI’s $15,000 goal by more than $3,700. CDI also contributed $25,000, bringing the total support generated through the event to $43,775.
