Calder Casino & Race Course
Calder Casino & Race Course, located in the South Florida city of Miami Gardens, offers casino gaming action with more than 1,200 Las Vegas-style slot machines; "Studz Poker Club," a 29-table poker room; and a Players Club rewards program. The adjacent racetrack, which opened in 1971, has been one of the most successful pari-mutuel franchises in Florida's history. Churchill Downs Incorporated acquired the racetrack in April 1999 and added the casino venue in January 2010.
Calder, located next to Sun Life Stadium, the home of the National Football League's Miami Dolphins, annually conducts eight months of live racing, with the Calder Meet that runs from early April through September and the Tropical Meet that runs from October to early December. Highlights of Calder’s live racing season include the “Festival of the Sun,” “Summit of Speed” and the “Florida Million.” The track is also open year-round for full-card simulcasting.
