Churchill Charities Selects New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program as Recipient of 'Pony Up For Charity' Proceeds from Downs After Dark

The Churchill Downs Incorporated Foundation ("Churchill Charities") today announced a new charitable initiative which will be offered at the next three Downs After Dark night racing events at Churchill Downs. Racing fans and customers will be offered an easy way to show their support for horses, people and their communities through Churchill Charities’ ‘Pony Up For Charity’. Proceeds from this week’s ‘Pony Up For Charity’ on Friday, June 24, will be designated to New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program.

Customers may elect to ask their server to add or "Pony Up" a dollar or more to their food and beverage tab. Customers who "Pony Up" will receive a commemorative sticker, "I PONIED UP FOR CHARITY" with the Churchill Charities black and red horse head logo.

Churchill Downs Incorporated Vice President and Executive Director of Churchill Charities Liz Harris remarked, "‘Pony Up For Charity,’ is a fun, innovative way to give the customers an opportunity to make a small donation toward the causes they care about most – the horses, the people of the industry and their communities, to name a few. If everyone ‘Ponies Up’ just a couple of dollars this week, we can make a significant difference in the lives of many ex-racehorses together, while we party and watch the races at Churchill Downs. New Vocations does an amazing job retraining Thoroughbreds coming off the racetrack and we are appreciative of their success in giving the horses new careers and finding them new homes."

Churchill Downs admission gates will open at 4 p.m. EDT for Downs After Dark and entertainment will be offered through midnight on Fridays, June 24 and July 1 with live racing at 6 p.m. An additional Downs After Dark event will be held during the fall meet on Saturday, Nov. 19. General admission to Downs After Dark is $10.
