Churchill Downs Simulcast Network to Carry 2006 Dubai International Racing Carnival

For the second year in a row, Churchill Downs Simulcast Network ("CDSN") will partner with the Dubai Racing Club to serve as the exclusive North and South American host of the annual Dubai International Racing Carnival. CDSN is the product content provider for Churchill Downs Incorporated (NASDAQ: CHDN).

"The Dubai International Racing Carnival is a superb international event," said Patrick Troutman, vice president and general manager of CDSN. "We are delighted to continue our relationship with the Dubai Racing Club through this arrangement, while creating additional exposure for the Carnival with racing fans in the Western Hemisphere. The high-quality racing makes the Carnival an attractive product for our customers."

The Carnival features 11 days of racing from the Nad al Sheba Race Course in Dubai, culminating on March 25 with Dubai World Cup Day and the richest event in racing, the $6 million Dubai World Cup (Group I). First post for the Dubai Racing Carnival will be approximately 10:15 a.m. EST daily. Race dates for the carnival are Jan. 19 and 26; Feb. 2, 9, 10, 16, 23, and 24; and March 2, 9, and 25.

Dubai World Cup Day will feature three other Group I events for Thoroughbreds: the $5 million Dubai Duty Free and the $5 million Dubai Sheema Classic, the richest turf races on the international calendar, and the $2 million Dubai Golden Shaheen. Past winners of the World Cup include champions Cigar, Silver Charm, and Dubai Millennium. Kenneth and Sarah Ramsey's Roses in May captured the event in 2005.

U.S. horseplayers wagered a total of $2,566,213 on Dubai World Cup Day in 2005, and a total of $3,398,735 on the full Carnival of Racing. Wagering on the 2006 Carnival will be co-mingled through the South African Phumelela totalisator operation, located in Johannesburg.
