How to Get Involved

Retired racehorses can be reconditioned to make excellent riding and pleasure horses. TRF offers a adoption programs that pair retired racehorses with new owners.

Retired racehorses that can no longer be ridden may be suitable as companion animals for other pleasure horses. Through its "Pasture Pets" program, TRF works to place these horses in good homes.

Still other racehorses at TRF farms cannot be placed in adoptive homes and need the support of sponsors to help cover the annual cost of their care and maintenance.

It only costs $3 a day to sponsor a retired racehorse living at a TRF farm for an entire year! It doesn't take a lot of money to make a difference for racehorses who deserve a good life after they leave the racetrack.
