OTB Manager - Hodgkins, IL or Homewood, IL

Position Objective:

Responsible for managing the wagering operation of an partner-owned facility including the development and growth of people, sales and profits. Manages the wagering operation in accordance with established company standards, policies and procedures. Optimizes profits by controlling labor costs and general and overhead expenses. Increases sales by ensuring guest satisfaction and prompt problem resolution. Staffs, trains and develops hourly employees through orientations, ongoing feedback, establishment of performance expectations and by conducting performance reviews.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

 Directly manages and schedules Supervisor staff, while performing similar duties to enhance and maintain an overall customer-focused business.
 Responsible for cash handling and accountability of all wagering operation receipts and funds.
 In a working management position, responsible for, but not limited to; television operations, wagering operations and education, program sales, customer education, and routine wagering terminal service.
 Communicates, maintaining positive and productive working relationship with the business/property owner.
 Ensures high quality services are provided on a consistent basis within the business plan.
 Operational planning and implementation of plan to include; budgeting for profit planning, sales forecasting, cost standards to maximize profitability. Compares performance with operating plan and standards and reports and interprets the results for the General ManagerSr. Director.
 Responsible for guiding, directing and ensuring customer service and satisfaction. Successfully resolves and verifies resolution of customer complaints.
 Continually evaluates business plan, goals and operation for improvements to profitability and changing customer needs.
 Recruits, hires, coaches and trains and motivates hourly employees; works with AP Human Resources and General ManagerSr. Director to recruit, hire, coach, train and motivate employees; conducts safety orientations and meetings; assures that policies and procedures are followed.
 Responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, state, local and regulatory agency laws and guidelines related to the wagering business. Maintains positive and cooperative relationships within the community and local leaders to ensure local public support.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Service Supervisors. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

Personal Qualifications:

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Outgoing and personable. Ability to clearly speak effectively with individual and groups of customers.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Education, Training and Experience:

High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
