Community Relations

Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI), following a long tradition of Churchill Downs' corporate social responsibility, has been a committed community partner for decades and has had significant impact on the many cities in which CDI operates.

Nurturing our neighbors through engaged, consistent and positive community relations is something CDI cares about deeply.  Through CDI Community Relations and the CDI Foundation, now working as "Churchill Charities," $1 million to $2 million dollars in financial and in-kind contributions are annually directed toward nonprofit entities that assist our industry, public health and welfare, education and the arts programs which benefit our communities.

With more than 3,700 CDI employees nationwide, we are proud of the tens of thousands of volunteer hours our team members put forth each year.  Their community service includes mentoring youth through Junior Achievement, building houses for Habitat for Humanity, participating in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Program, therapeutic riding volunteerism, serving food to the homeless through The Salvation Army, helping neighborhood schools and assisting organizations with legal, public relations, graphic and accounting skills, to name a few.
